How will taxpayers send Halcyon tax paperwork?
Halcyon provides end users with a secure document portal to upload documentation as well as direct connectivity to over 300 financial institutions to download tax documents.
Our software solution is a cloud-based application accessible from any web browser or a smartphone app that is able to read scans and pictures, or download from over 300 institution smart-links.
The portal also supports a customized client questionnaire and the ability to read prior year tax returns to establish a list of expected documents for the current year. -
Will taxpayers have access to tax advice?
Yes, our tax professionals are available to answer situational questions via chat, email, or video conference at a client’s request.

What tax forms are supported?
Halcyon supports all individual tax forms (1040, 1040-SR, 1040-NR, 1040-EZ), and all state equivalent forms along with multi-state tax returns.

Which clients will benefit the most from this service?
Any client who wants to streamline the hassle of annual tax compliance. Halcyon will prepare a document checklist and questionnaire that can be used as an interactive guide to capture all required information.
As documents are received or available, they can be uploaded (or downloaded) immediately into the portal instead of all being tossed into a folder waiting for each document to arrive without any visibility as to what is still outstanding.
The tax return processing will be continuous until the client alerts Halcyon all documents are received at which point a credentialed professional reviews the results to highlight any inconsistencies or tax saving measures. -
What security practices does Halcyon use?
Halcyon is complaint with SOC-2, the most stringent security protocols mandated for use by financial institutions.

Will my client’s data be secure if we use Halcyon?
Outside of Halcyon’s commitment and adherence to data security protocols, client information will only be shared with the entity sponsoring the tax preparation program who is already a trusted advisor.
The difference is that with Halcyon, the financial institution will be in a position to enhance services for the client in additional ways that were previously impossible due to the fragmented and transactional nature of the relationship. All insights are between you and your client ONLY.

What credentials do I need to sign up as a tax professional?Tax professionals need to have a CPA or EA designation along with a current license in your state of residence.

What type of commitment and hours does Halcyon require?
Halcyon does not require any specific hours or commitment from our professional staff because we understand a flexible work schedule will give us access to a greater pool of talent. Not all accountants want to work 18-hour days in an office environment, spending hours on mundane tasks such as data entry.
At Halcyon, the professionals are asked for their valued services only – to review and give tax advice –the data entry is left to our time-proven technology and verifiers.

How does Halcyon compensate its professionals?
Compensation is based on a per-unit review commission with adjustments based on complexity, turnaround time, and proximity to the filing deadline.
Our infrastructure makes the review process easy. It eliminates the fear of data entry errors by providing multiple layers of accuracy verification as well as exception reporting to highlight anomalies and assist in an efficient, quality review process.

Can I work for Halcyon and another tax firm simultaneously?
Yes, there is a non-compete clause preventing any Halcyon-credentialed resource from soliciting Halcyon taxpayers.
But there is nothing preventing Halcyon from being a supplemental income, even if your main income is tax preparation. -
Do I need to pay for tax software to work at Halcyon?
No, Halcyon will supply all the tools needed for the production of tax returns. The tax return will be filed using your professional credentials, but the licensing costs are covered by us.
